Medical disclaimer

Everything published on this site is general information only. It is not medical advice, it is not individualised to any reader, and it is not a substitute for a consultation with a qualified healthcare professional.

Do not use anything here to diagnose yourself, to delay seeking care, or to start, stop or change any medication or medical treatment. If you have a health concern, speak to a clinician who can assess you properly. If you think you may have a medical emergency, contact emergency services immediately.

Sourcing

Every factual claim in an article links to a source, and the source is one a reader can open. Peer-reviewed literature and official public health guidance are preferred over news coverage of them.

Where a claim rests on a single study, the article says so and describes the study's size and design. Where a finding is observational, it is written as an association rather than a cause. Findings that complicate or undercut the article's own argument are reported rather than omitted.

What is not published here

No commercial relationships

This site sells nothing, carries no advertising, and receives no payment from any company or brand. No product mentioned in any article is one this site has any financial interest in. See About for who publishes it.

Corrections

Errors of fact are corrected on the page, with a dated correction note at the foot of the article. Corrections are not made silently.
